If WT are cutting back on mags will they also cut back on Bethelites?
by truthseeker ini was thinking after hearing about the agm cutbacks to the mags and other website content surely they will end up dismissing more bethelites?
i would have thought in the old days, before the web, an artist or writer at bethel would have been a full time job making content for four 32 page mags a month.
now what are these guys going to do?.

The plan revealed by arrogant Anthony is a reduction in WT frequency, and if I understand his eminence correctly, an end to the duality of standard and simplified study WTs. Additionally, I understood his holiness to say that subject matters may not be added to and that a significant amount of digital media will be frozen. So repetition / reprints may be the future pattern. The present paucity of creativity will be the new reality / standard.
Thus, I'm expecting more haemorraging of bethalites too. They might only be safe if they're working in a video production department. His Royal Highness didn't say video production will be reduced.
There may be other consequences though. In that the annual report via the yearbook is no more, it remains to be seen if the level of detail in the digital version of the annual report is maintained. If not, or if the report is released in segments, then the importance of submitting reports may be lost on JWs. Irregularity in reporting may increase. Secretaries may have to get assertive to maintain the flow of reports from JWs. This in itself could be quite problematic locally.

AGM - Are they now teaching predestination?
by Doubting Bro inanother agm thought.
in tight pants tony's part, he mentioned several times that jehovah draws those he chooses and only those rightly disposed would come in.
and individuals that liked the literature but made no progress towards becoming jw were a "waste of time".. was he setting the stage for them introducing the thought of predestination?

Good observation Doubting Bro. I too was struck by the frequency of his using the phrase "rightly disposed".
At first I thought this is Morris merely projecting his conceit and arrogance as well as his disdain of others whose beliefs are divergent from that of WT teaching.
Whilst I still see the GB as conceited and arrogant, yet his repeated use of "rightly disposed" reminds me of the teaching of an "elect". If memory serves me correctly, I think it's a Calvinist teaching / doctrine.

The cut back
by Akid48 indoes the cut back for 6 magazines for the year show how there losing money or just cutting back.i feel going to begging for peoples money than just chargeing money for a magazine was kinda killing money.but they do get a lot of property and they can just sell that making money.. it seems to early for me to make a full opinion on the topic i wanted to know what others think about this..

Akid48: an indication of their status is the plea for money in the Jan 2018 WT (study edition).
Hitherto, these articles were read only and printed in the WT once per year. Now they are study articles (question and answer) so a whole hour devoted to them at meetings. The last such article was several months ago with a graphic of a hand hovering above a donation box with banknote to the fore.
So the WTBTS is getting 2018 off to a good start with their unwritten but demonstrative philosophy of TAKE! TAKE! TAKE!

Audio of Highlights of the Annual Meeting 2017
by LevelThePlayingField ini wouldn't dare bore you with the whole 3.5 hours of their dogma.
but i have about a half hour of some of the main points.
of course, i made sure tight pants tony was the main part of it, since he's the one that announced the reductions of the wt & awake and no more year book.. also, i have lett saying that jehovah gave jesus immorality instead of immortality.

Thank you very much LTPF.
I usually can't bear listening to these individuals but on this occassion paid rapt attention. I noted the over use AM made of "those rightly disposed" for everlasting life. He went as far as to say that preaching to those "not rightly disposed is a waste of time". Hitherto, the approach that was taken was that such was never a waste as it serves as a witness / warning. As the "last days" proceed, they are certainly intensifying their conceit and disdain of those who dare to think for themselves.

January 2018 Watchtower
by Listener inthe cover page shows a photo jws loading a small plane with watchtower literature to take to a remote area in bolivia.the first study article introduces the 2018 year text isa.
40:31 "those hoping in jehovah will regain power".
according to them, you may leave home to do field service or attend a meeting feeling exhausted but you return home refreshed and 'jesus' yoke is kindly indeed!

Interesting review and summary Listener - TYVM.
I noted that in the opening paragraph, the language is somewhat exclusive and supercilious - using the pronoun "you". As paragraph 2 progresses, the emphasis changes to more inclusive language - "we" & "our". The opening came across to me as somewhat conceited.
The magazine as a whole makes a melancholy read. One is supposed to go to the BoE for help when their aberrant behaviour is responsible for much hurt! We are to give the org more money for the WWW. Yet at the recent AGM we learned that the org is shrinking! Therefore, less money is needed!
I take such delight in giving them nothing and in now being counted as inactive. Thus, I am another who contributes to the drain of publishers in Britain. I'm proud of that - really pleased.
So they quote Bill Barclay. If he were alive today he'd be able to show what crass and vacuous intellects occupy Warwick and its writing/teaching committee.

Watchtower’s Annual Meeting Announces More Odd Decreases in Literature and Online Content

I noted this in the letter coinciding with the AGM....
"No new content will be added to the following features on jw.org: “Bible Character Cards,” “Family Worship Projects,” “Illustrated Bible Stories,” “My Bible Lessons,” “Picture Activities,” “Study Activities for Children,” study guides for What Does the Bible Really Teach?, Young People Ask worksheets, and the video series What Your Peers
Say. However, the existing content will remain for now on jw.org."In that this part of their web platform is to be frozen, I rather suspect that further haemorrhaging of bethelites working in digital departments will occur. The need for further savings is probably overwhelming. No bethelites are safe now!

At the annual meeting right now . . .
by neat blue dog ini'm at the recorded meeting right now.
trying to hide my disgust sitting up front listening to geoffrey jackson quibble about the pharisaical minutai of sanctification vs. vindication.
the audience is thrilled that they now have 'permission' to say god's name can be vindicated.

NBD:
Geoffrey Jackson - vacuous and confabulating as are his GB colleagues. You must now empathise with Solomon when he said... "Better is the ending afterward of a matter than its beginning..."

The Watchtower's Real Crisis
by JeffT inwhen discussing the watchtowers financial problems, i've generally been of the opinion that they probably are not in a real financial crisis.
i've come to believe that money may be something of an issue, but its wrapped up in a much larger problem.
this came to me this morning when reading about the annual meeting.. i think the society's leadership is just plain out of ideas.
-
Nicholaus Kopernicus
JeffT's insight...."I think the Society's leadership is just plain out of ideas.... I haven't seen a new thought in ages, the literature is getting dumbed down and repetitive."
Spot on! The Society's leadership are appaling leaders. They're certainly not scholars. Neither are they teachers. They exemplify Peter Principle.Their printed/digital output too too often extolls the GBoJW, the FDS, the Organisation, and BoE. For example, a recent article praised "the publications of the Faithful Slave" and deserted the phrase "bible based publications" such is their wanton conceit.
I now understand why they abandoned the statement of purpose from the WT study edition (Jan 2013 WT onwards). The magazine (and other outputs) are not based on the authority of the Bible as they claimed up to December 2012, but rather, on what their vacuous minds perceive to be fitting.
